Naomi Reed
Naomi Reed is an acclaimed Australian storyteller and author, known for her captivating and heartfelt accounts of faith in the face of adversity. She spent 13 years as a missionary physiotherapist in Nepal during a civil war, homeschooling her three sons in a remote town with limited access to the outside world. Her personal experience of enduring hardship, including the challenge of a close friend's illness and the realities of monsoon life, inspired her to reflect on God's work during tough seasons.
Naomi began writing as a way to process these challenges, leading to her debut book My Seventh Monsoon, which became the first in a series of autobiographical works detailing her time in Nepal. Her writing is characterized by deep vulnerability, honesty, and her journey of faith. Naomi's second book, No Ordinary View, won the 2009 Australian Christian Book of the Year, cementing her place as a notable voice in Christian literature.
Naomi's storytelling expanded beyond the written word as she became a sought-after speaker at women's groups, book clubs, and conferences. Over time, her focus shifted to capturing other people's stories of faith, particularly women grappling with faith amidst hardship. She co-authored Walking Him Home, a powerful account of Feby Chan, the wife of Andrew Chan from the Bali Nine, which explores faith, prayer, and heartbreak.
Through her books and speaking engagements, Naomi continues to inspire and encourage others, particularly through her regular "Faith Stories" series in Eternity. Naomi's stories reflect a commitment to sharing the raw and challenging parts of life, always pointing back to the presence, comfort, and hope found in God.
